Why This Murrell Park Engagement Session Was A Photographer’s Dream to Shoot

As an engagement photographer, I love the opportunity to get to know a couple before their wedding day so I can see their unique style and learn a little bit about their love story. For Kerissa and Phillip, I was excited to help them capture the authentic, fun-spirited nature of their love at an engagement session at Murrell Park in Flower Mound.

This Dallas-area couple has known each other since childhood, and I think these images showcase the relaxed friendship that underlies their romance. Phillip was best friends with Kerissa’s older brother, and while her big brother was a little protective of her at first, everyone is excited that the two families are now connected forever. With such a strong foundation to their relationship, it’s easy to see why their photos so clearly captured who they are.

As a photographer focusing on beauty and relationships, there’s nothing I embrace more than a gorgeous setting and romance, and that’s what this session totally delivered. Here are three things that made this engagement shoot so much fun from a photographer’s perspective.

Authentic Chemistry

Like I said above, Kerissa and Phillip have such a grounded relationship: in these photos, you can see the comfort they take in one another, the ease they have in being intimate and being themselves, even in front of a camera. It’s totally natural for couples to feel a little awkward at the beginning of a photoshoot, but, with this session, I didn’t sense any nervousness at all! Instead, Kerissa and Phillip were playful and flirty in a way that was truly a joy to photograph because it made my job easy! It’s no trouble capturing a couple’s love when they’re so naturally affectionate!

Personal and Fun

Kerissa and Phillip really made this photoshoot their own by having fun and dancing together. I adore the photos of Phillip twirling Kerissa, and those dips are so swoon-worthy! Dancing is one of this couple’s favorite activities and it was so joyful to see them bring such a significant aspect of their relationship into their engagement session. It helped make this whole shoot unique and personal! As a photographer who strives for keepsake images that capture the genuine ways couples express their love, it was a dream to give Kerissa and Phillip a gallery that displayed one of the real ways they find connection.

The Perfect Setting

Murrell Park in Flower Mound, Texas, was the ideal location for this engagement session. Can we talk about that lighting?? It’s always such a treat when that Texas sky cooperates, but here it really outdid itself. The photos of Kerissa and Phillip perched along the rocks with the light burning golden behind them are some of my favorites. Overall, the setting offered us what the best outdoor photography locations should: natural light, a neutral but romantic backdrop, and a variety of settings to give an array of compositions for the gallery. A cozy picnic champagne toast was the perfect way to top-off this carefree, true-to-life engagement session.
If you’re looking for an engagement photographer to capture your authentic love story, it would be an honor to connect with you!
