An Unexpected Reason I Love Being a Dallas Maternity Photographer

There are so many reasons to love maternity photography—capturing the sweet bond between a mama and her unborn baby, celebrating the beauty of motherhood, memorializing all the anticipation and joy of pregnancy. But this Dallas maternity session reminded me of another great reason these photos can be so worth taking!

As a Dallas maternity photographer, I find it so special to meet couples and capture their love through meaningful images. I’m all about pictures that encapsulate the essence of a moment in life so you can cherish that moment forever with heirloom-worthy photographs. In these lifestyle maternity photos, Mom Aimee and Dad Aiden were expecting their third baby. It was so sweet to see how excited their two older children were for their little sister. Aimee was absolutely stunning in this pink off-the-shoulder maxi dress, so flowy and feminine as it showed off her bump. The outdoor setting really complemented this family’s pastoral elegance. But if there was one thing about this session that stood out to me, it was the beautifully apparent love between husband and wife.

I realized that maternity photos, while they are definitely about Mama and baby, can be a wonderful opportunity to capture the love between Mom and Dad. This session reminded me of how much I love being a maternity photographer because it showed me that pregnancy is such a special time for a couple—a time of preparation, trust, and hope. I think it’s so important to preserve the memory of that unique love of husband and wife during those nine months.

Here are my top three reasons why maternity photos can also be the perfect time for love-filled couple photos:

A Moment of Romance in the Craziness of Parenthood

As a mom of three, I know just how hard it can be to steal time away with my husband. In the midst of all the little things our kids need, it can sometimes feel like we barely have a chance to talk at the end of the day! That’s why I loved giving this couple a few “stolen moments” at this session. These tender images are a wonderful reminder of the love that started this little family and continues to nourish it as it grows. You can just see the peace Aiden and Aimee bring to one another as they hold each other or walk hand in hand. Maternity photos can actually be a fun way to reconnect with your spouse or partner. Later, when you print and frame your photos, those sweet images of the two of you together can serve as a continual reminder of your love, even when the exhausting newborn days take hold.

Remember that You are a Team

As this couple chased their two little ones around or lovingly touched Aimee’s baby bump, I could see clearly that this mom and dad knew a thing or two about teamwork. Parenting involves so much sharing of responsibility. While maternity photos focus on the amazing work a woman’s body undertakes to bring a baby into the world, I love that this session allowed me to focus on both parents, on their shared hopes and dreams for this baby. In a few short months, both parents will be able to hold their sweet little girl. As experienced parents, they know just how much teamwork a newborn takes!

Sweet Memories for your Expected Child

I love thinking of how much this baby girl is already loved before she is even born. Maternity photos are always a beautiful way to capture the love you have for your child in the womb, and I know my own children love seeing my maternity photos and realizing how much they were already treasured. But another wonderful thing about maternity photos is the chance to let your child see the love between you and your spouse or partner before they were even born. I know from experience that children find enrichment in witnessing the love between their parents because it makes them feel safe and teaches them how to love in turn. In these sweet photos between Aiden and Aimee, they’re already setting a perfect example of love for their little girl on the way.

If you’re looking to book a maternity photographer in Dallas, Texas, I’d be so honored to capture the love your family shares!
