Love is in the Details | White Rock Lake Engagement Photos in Dallas, Texas.

When Maeghan and Greg booked me as their Dallas engagement photographer, I could tell almost immediately that we were going to be a great fit. It was clear from how they treated each other and what they shared with me that they were the kind of couple who cared about details, who believed that the little things not only lead to beautiful photography but also make beautiful love stories.

Maeghan shared that their love story has given them a newfound trust in fate. Even though they grew up in two very different places—she in Fort Worth, Texas and Greg in New York—they still found each other. They met through mutual friends in Dallas, Texas and dated for two years before Greg decided to pop the question. From how they describe it, it’s clear that Greg thought of every last detail to make their engagement perfect. With both their families in town for a Cowboys vs. Giants game, Maeghan totally thought it was her idea to have their parents meet for the first time. Little did she know that Greg had already planned to propose that weekend so they could share it with all their family and friends! He got down on one knee in front of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in Dallas and the celebration began.

For their engagement photos, I wanted to capture this couple’s love by focusing on the details. We chose to have the session at White Rock Lake in Dallas to celebrate the city where they fell in love. This is the perfect location for spring engagement photos because the grass tends to be lush and green and that golden hour light is so dreamy.

Here are some of my favorite details about this Dallas White Rock Lake engagement session:

Beautiful Color

A lot of brides choose to wear white for their engagement photos, which can definitely be stunning and symbolic. But I love that this Dallas bride chose to wear one of her favorite colors and that the brighter tones beautifully bring out her complexion and reflect her joyful personality. Her rose and soft pink hues complement Greg’s blue tones as well as their gingham picnic blanket and the background greenery. The pieces she chose are flirty and fun, adding visual interest and giving the photos a really romantic vibe. I couldn’t help snapping a few photos of just Meaghan with the ring playfully prominent.

Bold Style

Speaking of the ring, can we talk about attention to detail? Greg did a great job choosing a ring that brings out his lady’s poise and sophistication. I loved taking close-ups of the beautiful oval cut, simple setting, and diamond-studded band set against different backgrounds to contrast and accentuate the textures. Maeghan’s floor-length gown is also full of texture, especially with that gorgeous and bold back! This couple exudes elegance and style right down to their shoes.

A Fun Activity

Bringing an activity to your photo session is a great way to spice things up and show your personality. A picnic was the perfect choice for these engagement photos, since it allowed this couple to relax and have fun together in an intimate and adorable way. I love how this bride- and groom-to-be planned the details right down to the cheese knife, which bears the letter “C” for the last name they’re soon to share!

This engagement session had me so excited to shoot Greg and Maeghan’s wedding at The Grand Ivory in Leonard, Texas, the perfect wedding venue for a couple that knows elegance and loves attention to detail!
